Happy Birthday Dad!

Today would have been my Dad's 81'st birthday. Sadly, he only made it to 58. He passed away on March 17th 1987 after a short but devistating battle with cancer. I was only 25 years old and Jeanine was 5 and Michael was just an 8 month old baby. I miss him everyday, especially this time of year. Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday. Sometimes his birthday and Thanksgiving actually fell on the same day. He loved that! We always spent Thanksgiving with my Uncle Lene and Aunt Del, who would have been my aunt and uncle even if they hadn't married one another. You see, my Dad and my uncle were brothers and my aunt and my Mom were sisters. Neat, huh? So my cousins Livvy, Debbie and Joe are practically my sisters and brother. In fact we consider ourselves that anyway. We would spend the day at their house and eat and relax and eat some more. The next day the guys would always go out hunting and then we'd go back over for lunch and eat leftovers. I loved being there so much that I would cry and throw hissy fits when we had to leave. Did I mention that I am the baby of the family? My brothers are 10 and 7 years older than I am, and my cousins are 11, 8 and 3 years older than me. I used to hate that SO bad, but now that they are all in their 50's and I'm still in my 40's it doesn't bother me in the least ;0) Haha!!
We had a wonderful day here yesterday. I love having Thanksgiving dinner. No hassles or stress, just family time and good food. What could be better than that?
Today I'm not doing much. A little cleaning up and then the Pens are on at 2:00. So my butt will be on the couch for that game and then it's the "Backyard Brawl" at 7:00. (Pitt vs. WVU for those who aren't from the area). So today is nothing but a leftover eating, sports filled day.
Gotta love it!!!
