My neice Michelle's big day finally arrived. She and Aaron were engaged almost 2 years ago and they set the date for 6/6/09, which seemed like it would take forever to get here. Well, lo and behold, the day finally came (funny how that happens).
The day started with the bridesmaids getting their hair and makeup done in the morning. They decided to use the clubhouse for it since there would be more room. Karen, my SIL, and our friend Linda brought breakfast casseroles, I made Sandi's famous blueberry frenchtoast casserole and we had danishes, strawberries, donuts, coffee and mimosas. That was a fun way to start the festivities. After that, the girls went to the church to get dressed and ready for the ceremony. Everyone looked gorgeous. The ceremony was beautiful.
We had a little bit of time between the church and the reception, and Larry had to drive my SIL and my N(nephew)IL to retrieve their cars, so my cousin Debbie and I decided to find a nice place to sit and enjoy the day. We see a patio behind the church and think that would be a nice place to visit. As we get closer we realize that it doesn't belong to the church, but to a neighbors house. I don't know if they would have been thrilled with strangers sitting in their patio, so we get in the car and figure we'd just drive around and find something else to do. We came upon a park which happened to be a WWII memorial. It didn't dawn on me how appropriate that was until later, since June 6th is D-Day. Debbie and I hang out their for a while and talk about our granddaughters. Eva (Deb's grandbaby is up from NC for a visit this w/e) and what a little cutie she is! I still can't get over how much hair she has. She was born with it and hasn't lost any of it like most babies do. It's actually getting long at the bottom and her dad teases her that she has a fe-mullet.
So it's off to the reception and I drive us over and as we pull into the parking lot, my husband and a few other guys are tailgating from the back of a pick up truck. I pull in beside them and Larry tells me that I'm straddling the line and to repark. So why is it that you can drive and park and do all the things you need to do in a car daily, but when a bunch of guys are standing around, you turn into the worst driver? Let me first explain that I'm used to driving Jeeps and SUV's that are higher off the ground and now I'm behind the wheel of Deb's Buick which has a long front end. As I'm reparking I get a little too close to the curb in front of me and scrape the bottom of the front bumper right in front of everybody. Needless to say, that makes them all howl with laughter and I must admit, I'm a bit embarassed. But what else is new, LOL!!
The food was great, the company was wonderful, the cookies were out of this world and we laughed and danced and had a great time. Oh, and Paige was the best behaved baby ever at a wedding. She was dressed in a pretty pink dress that my Mom got her for the ceremony and then she had on a cute little sundress for the reception. I just love, love, love, that baby and being her grandma!!!
Sandi and Bill and my cousins Al and Gladys were at the wedding. They had gone to a wedding earlier that afternoon. I'll let Sandi tell us all about that one. Let's just say that it's an interesting story!
Well, I'm off. I think I should get a walk in sometime today, and I really need to concentrate on cleaning house and doing laundry. I'm also behind on my bookwork so I guess I'd better get started.

What? No food porn?
I'm glad everything went well (except the poor curb).

Oh, the food was great. Chicken carbanara, which one of my neice's described as "kick ass", polenta, delish thinly sliced roast beef.(I'm usually not a fan since it's almost always dry at buffets, but this was really good!), shrimp scampi over rice, italian green beans, and a broccoli, cauliflower, carrot blend. I feel like I'm forgetting something......I guess just the salad and rolls. Oh, and they had a nice cheese and cracker and veggie table for starters before the bridal party got there. And I've never, ever seen SO MANY cookies in all my days! And I've been to a lot of weddings, but this takes the cake. (no pun intended) Haha.
