My Computer Works............For Now!

I finally got my internet to work long enough to post. I don't know what's going on with this crazy thing, I'm not very computer savvy and it's been hit and miss when I try to connect. Hopefully it will behave from now on.

So, let's see, what's been going on since you last heard from me..........Sheesh, it's hard to remember more than a month of stuff..........

Oh, I know! We went to the beach the week after my neice Michelle's wedding. We had a group of 12. My family (Larry, Jeanine, Chris, Michael, Megan and Paige) and my brother's family. We rented a beautiful house in the little town of Avon, NC. It was right off the beach and had 6 bedrooms and 5 and a half baths. The kitchen and living room was one big open space. It also had a little room at the top which was perfect to sit and read and look out over the ocean. That's where I would sit and rock Paige to sleep for her afternoon naps. There was also a pool and hot tub. We had a really great time. Larry and I hadn't been on vacation for many years, and it felt wonderful to get away. This is the first summer that we haven't been busy with the golf course. We worked summers for 18 years and we did manage to squeeze little trips in here and there, but it was more stressful than anything. We'd have so much to do before we could leave and then clean up all the messes that happened while we were gone, that it just didn't seem worth it to leave at all. So this trip was perfect for us. Just rest and relaxation and much, much laughter!!

There is a little bakery just south of where we stayed. It's in Buxton, NC and it's called the Orange Blossom. They make something called "apple uglies" and let me tell you, they are melt in your mouth delicious. It's a good thing I don't live down there or else I'd weigh a thousand pounds. There is also a little book store that we stopped in where I bought a cookbook from the Orange Blossom. The recipe for the uglies is in it. I'm going to try to make them someday, but I'm sure they won't be like the original.

Larry, Michael, Megan and I all got henna tattoos at a little shop there. I think that might have made me decide that I don't think I'd ever be able to get a real one. I liked the one that I got, but I know me, and I know that I'd get sick and tired of it and would want it gone after a while. It would have to something that I really liked and that would have deep meaning for me to actually want to look at it every day.

The Sunday after we got back, we went to a wedding brunch for my cousin's daughter who lives in Minnesota. She got married there in May and most of the PA family couldn't go, so they hosted a brunch for them here. My cousin and her husband live in South Carolina now so we don't get to see them very often. It was nice to see everybody. I saw some of my Mom's family that I haven't seen in years. Alot of them live out of state, and I remember them coming to visit when I was a kid so I didn't get to know them all that well. I'm happy to have visited with them at a happy occasion. I have an "aunt" Paige who is 83 now and I think she's a riot. She told me the story of how she and her husband met. She said she worked at a soda fountain back in the 40's and this man ("Uncle" Nick) came in and ordered a drink. She said it was hate at first sight (on her part anyway). She didn't like him at all. Everytime he came in, she would make her friend wait on him so she didn't have to. I don't know how he did it, but Uncle Nick won her over and they were married for many years before he passed away.

That's it for now, I've got to get a move on. Sandi and Jeanine and I were going to go to John's to work out this morning, but John had to cancel. So I think I'll get ready for church and maybe we'll get a walk in later today. The humidity broke, so it shouldn't be too bad to wait till this afternoon.

Oh Chris is back!!! Yippeee.
Missed you. Glad you had a great time. The beach house sounds great and I can't wait for your review on the "uglies".
