Great Day!

Actually I should say great weekend. Jeanine, Chris and Murray came home this weekend to celebrate my b-day. Jeanine brought all the fixin's for a very delicious meal of marinated pork loin which she grilled. We had potatoes and green beans in a tomato, parsley, garlic, olive oil and balsalmic vinagrette dressing - Delish! Oh, but I'm not done........we had a tossed salad with strawberries, mandarin oranges and sliced almonds, mmmmmmm! Then to top it all off, she brought a cake from a bakery in Pgh. It is owned by a real life Frenchman, and let me tell you that man can bake a cake! Oui, he can!! It had the most creamy delicious icing it just melted in your mouth. So Larry and I and Michael and Megan and Jeanine and Chris had a really good evening. It's nice when we can all get together and hang out for a while.

This morning I went in to work. The skies didn't look very promising. We weren't all that busy. I did a few things and thought I'd go down to where Michael and Larry are building Michael and Megan's house. Just as I was about to go down, the first rain storm hit. Larry had to quit working on the house and he came up to get something to eat. He then says that since it's raining why don't we go out for lunch. Well, the next thing I know, we are all going out to lunch. Larry and I and all the kids. We went to Texas Roadhouse. We all pigged out and then went to Home Depot to order windows etc. for the house. Came back here and took the dogs down to the pond to swim. Murray is a natural swimmer. He just loves to jump in and go. Chris throws out a tennis ball and Murray jumps in and retrieves it. I guess that's what golden retrievers do and he does it very well. I don't know how many times Chris threw that ball in and everytime that dog went in after it. He was like the Energizer Bunny. Dixie on the other hand didn't seem to interested in swimming today. She loved it yesterday. I didn't get to see her, but Megan said she was so cute. I thought I get to see her today, but she didin't want to. Maybe I made her nervous. LOL

I also got a visit from my neice Allison and her husband Geoff. They brought their dog Rocky. They rescued him from a shelter a while back. He is HUGE! We think he is a Plott hound (?) I don't know much about that type of dog, but he is a sweetie. He's still a little shy around new people, but he got along great with all of our dogs. My other neice Gina stopped in the other night. She brought me a candle that smells like almond biscotti. It smells SO good! I think I'll have to get my recipe out and make a batch for Katie's grad party and Megan's baby shower.

That's about it. Tomorrow Jeanine and I are going for pedicures and that will officially end my birthday weekend!!!

What a wonderful family I'm blessed with!
