Weekend Stuff

Here it is Monday again already. We had lousy weather this weekend so I didn't work much. I went to breakfast with my Mom and Megan on Sunday morning at church. Jeanine couldn't go with us because she was in Milwaukee visiting Chris's Gram. Breakfast was really good. The men of the church prepare everything. We had fruit cup, cranberry scones with orange marmalade butter, which were delicious. There was also an egg and sausage quiche and crepes filled with bananas and a brown sugar glaze. Everything was very good. After breakfast, I went to work for a few hours, but we closed early due to heavy rains.

We didn't have any special plans for Mother's Day. After I got home from work, I laid on the couch to watch a movie or something on t.v. I couldn't find anything decent so I went on On Demand and I came across Jesus Chris Superstar. I hadn't seen it in years. So I turned it on and really enjoyed it. But for the last couple of days, I've had all the songs running through my head. The one that's kind of getting to me is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feWcodU51QY&feature=related I like it, but it's amost getting on my nerves already.

Larry and I had a good time at the dinner we went to on Saturday. The food was excellent! They had a buffet the last time we were there. This year it was a sit down dinner. They served a delicious breaded chicken breast and really good tender roast beef with a light gravy. The dessert was a chocolate layer torte with the most delicious chocolate ganache over it. It was served on a little bit of raspberry sauce. It was garnished with an edible flower. I've heard of edible flowers, but I've never tried one. So our hostess says "try the flower it's good. It tastes like lettuce". Well, I am nice and eat a little of the flower. She's right it does taste a little like some type of lettuce. But given the choice between a big honkin' piece of chocolate layer cake covered in ganache with raspberry sauce or a flower petal..............I'm takin' the cake hands down!!!! The theme for the event was "Bookin' Through The Oldies" (did I mention that this was a library fundraiser?). They had a band that played songs from every decade since the '60's. They were really good. I wish I had a camera with me, because one of the singers could have passed as Patti 20 years ago. Not that I know what she looked like 20 years ago, just going by the pictures I see on the blog. The countdown is on Patti. I'll soon get to see you for real! Can't wait!!

Well, I'm off to Curves. Megan and I walked the dogs earlier for about 3 miles. Now I need to get my muscles toned up. Then it's home to make supper and watch the Pens (aka Penns - hi Kim) kick some Flyer butt tonight!! Yeehaaaaa!!!!!! :-)

I can make a copy of JCS (cd) if you'd like, A. Chris! We just saw it a couple weekends ago in Pittsburgh, and Ted Neeley (who played Jesus in the movie) played the role on stage! He's in his 60s now, but man, can he still wail! Very neat.

That's so funny Gina, 'cause while I was watching I kept wondering what everyone looks like now!
Did he still look like Jesus?

He looks exactly the same (from afar, at least). You could tell they were trying to disguise a receding hairline, but other than that....if possible, he sang even better now than he did in the movie. He had me in tears when he sang "Gethsemane."
