What A Night!!!

Saturday evening was supposed to be girls night at Megans. Myself, my 2 girls, my SIL's, neices and Sandi were getting together for a night of eating pizza, drinking, playing games and laughing at Paige's antics. We were to get together around 5:30. Jeanine pulls into our driveway around that time and she has Murray and Wally (my grandpuppies) with her. Murray, she's had since he's been a pup, but Wally is a new addition to the family since last summer. He was a shelter dog they adopted to keep Murray company. Wally is a sweet dog, but he has trust issues with us. Not with Jeanine and Chris so much anymore, but he definitely doesn't like it here........It could have something to do with the fact that my other grandpuppy Dixie terrorizes him. They get along fine when they are in the kitchen, but let poor Wally try to walk into the living room and watch out, all hell breaks loose!! Poor thing. But back to the story, Murray and Wally get out of the car and Murray walks up to the house to come in and Wally takes one look at my house and I swear he said "AHHHHHH..........THIS IS THE SCARY HOUSE WITH THE BITCH DOG IN IT..........I'M OUTTA HERE'!!!!! So off he goes in the opposite direction. He heads for the road and just keeps running. Jeanine chased him a little bit, but he was too fast. We get in the car and go after him and he is running down the road. He crosses a field, gets on another road which we turn into and follow him until he sees a gas well road and decides to go down that one. That darn dog just would not come to us. Larry, Michael, me and Jeanine drive around for a little bit but we don't see him anymore. Jeanine and I go back to the house in case he shows up there. I then decide to take the stuff I had for girls night down to Megans and let them all know what's going on. Everyone is there when I get there and I stayed for a little bit and then Sandi and I decide to go back to my house and see what was going on. I leave Sandi with Jeanine and I head back down to Megan's. To make a loooooong story short, after hours of driving around looking for him, everyone being upset, and all the worrying we did, he finally shows up at the house. I don't know how he managed to get back to us but I'm sure glad he did. We were all so relieved. Sandi bawled......she was so much help and so sweet to Jeanine. Love ya Sandi, thanks for everything! We are all huge dog lovers in this house, as well as all my family. The whole fiasco was a big downer for girls night however, no one felt like having fun knowing poor Wally was out in unfamilliar territory trying to get through all the snow that we still have. I thought we'd never see him again. I guess I didn't give him enough credit for being a dog and smelling his way back home!!

Maybe we'll try for another girls night soon. This time Jeanine promised she'll make sure his leash is on before she opens the car door. :o)

I just read this through after I posted and I came to the part where I say that I don't know how he found his way home, and I remembered how he DID get home.
I was helping Megan clean up after everyone left and after we got done, I was sitting on the floor in the living room getting ready to say good bye to Paige, when Megan said to her, let's say a prayer to Jesus. She had Paige repeat after her........"Dear Jesus, please help Wally find his way home to us. Amen" Then she blew a kiss up to heaven........It was the sweetest thing. To hear her repeat those words in her cute little voice about made me cry. I just hugged that child so close to me. And I'll bet you can guess what happened. Sandi called me less than 10 minutes later saying that the dog was home.............
