Beautiful Day!

It's a beautiful rainy day today. I first heard the thunder around 3:00 this morning and then the rain started. I love a good thunderstorm while I'm sleeping. The rain falling on the roof puts me to sleep like a baby. We were in dire need of some rain around here. I can't remember the last time we had any. Everything is brown and ugly. Although now, everyone will be complaining that they'll have to start mowing grass more often again. I'm taking advantage of a morning off to get some much needed laundry done. I was almost out of "gutchies". (sp?)

Megan has a dr. appt this afternoon. Nothing much to report from last weeks visit except that she had a 2:00 appt. and as soon as we got there, we watched her doc leave the parking lot in a big hurry. It seems that 2 women were about to deliver at the hospital. So, we were told to sit and wait for a little while till he called into the office to let them know how long he would be. We waited for a while and the secretary then tells us that he will be gone till at least 4 or 4:30. She looks around the room and tells some women that they should just reschedule. The very pregnant ones were told to sit and wait.............which is exactly what we did. Thank goodness it wasn't the week that all the crazies were there! I can't remember if I mentioned that week or not, let's just say that some people should definitely NOT reproduce!!!

I was reading Patti's blog and she was talking about someone getting into a house through the doggie door, and it reminded me of something I just heard about last week. Michael and Megan went to the insurance agents office to get some insurance on the home they are building. The agent was asking him all the usual questions..........blah, blah, blah,........when he came to the question:

Agent: Do you have a dog?

Michael: Yes.

Agent: What breed?

Michael: Beagle/Blue Tick mix.

Agent: Has she ever bitten anyone?

Michael: No. What does this have to do with getting homeowners insurance?

Agent: I once had a case where the homeowners were not at home, but the dog was. While they were gone, people tried to break in to rob them. A women was going in through the
doggie door and was going to unlock the door for the others. She got as far as putting
her head through the doggie door when the dog attacked her and apparantley messed
up her face pretty bad. (you probably know where this is going). She ended up suing
the owners for $250,000.00.

So I guess the bigger the dog, the higher the premium? What a sue happy society we live in. If whe won the case, I wonder what she spent the money on.................

Well, I had better get a move on and get something accomplished today. Take care everyone and I'll let you know how things go on "Baby Watch".

Some insurance companies charge more for certain "biting" breeds and I've even heard of someone having a really hard time getting insurance because they had a Pit Bull. Chows and Cocker Spaniels are on the list too.

Wow, that speaks volumes about the society we live in. I'd love to find out if she won the case or not. Good for the dog, though! I hope they didn't have to do something awful like put it to sleep because it bit someone. Can't wait to hear news on Baby!
