The next time I say that nothing much has been going on around here lately, I'm gonna bite my tongue or disable my fingers in some way so I can't type those words.
Sandi and I had planned on going to curves on Friday morning after she and Katie got back from
Wally-World. She calls me when she gets home and says she's ready whenever I am. She procedes to talk about this bad accident she saw on the way home and mentions that it was my son Michael. Now, I HAD NO IDEA that Michael had been in an accident. She says don't worry, he's fine. She had apparantly talked to my husband right after she drove past it, and he told her that Michael was fine. Oh, I better clarify that Sandi had no idea that Michael was involved at the time. Oh, I guess I better clarify something else as well. Larry and Michael drive haul trucks for local gas well companies. They haul rock to gas well locations that are used to make the roads that the heavy equipment and water trucks will use while the drilling is going on. So to explain how the accident happened. Michael was stopped on the highway waiting to make a left hand turn. He had his brakes on and his turn signal was blinking. He said there was alot of oncoming traffic so he probably sat for a minute or more, when all of a sudden he feels this big WHAM and his truck is pushed about 10 feet from where he was stopped. An elderly gentleman rammed right into the back of him. Now this is on a straight stretch on a bright clear morning with no snow or ice. The poor man gets out of his truck and tells Michael that he never saw him. The troopers at the accident said the guy never even braked until he hit Michael. His hands went through the windshield and he hit his chest on the steering wheel (he wasn't wearing his seatbelt). They took him by ambulance to the hosp. we haven't heard anything more on his condition. He tried to refuse treatment but, he really needed to go get looked at. Hopefully he's doing better. I thank God that Michael's truck wasn't loaded with rock or else the guy might have been really badly hurt or even worse. Michael is fine. He was understandably shaken up and was a little sore but that's it.
Sandi felt so bad that she didn't stop. How was she to know that it was someone she knew? She said that she couldn't really see those involved because she didn't want to "bottle neck". At least that 's what she told Katie. Katie asked what she meant by bottle necking. She proceded to explain to her that that's when you look at something too long while driving slow and holding up traffic..........Sandi relays this story to me later that morning after I knew that Michael was OK. I tell her that I think she meant to say "rubber necking"! I told Katie that in the future, when her mom explains things to her that she should check with me or someone else to make sure it's right before she makes herself sound stupid!!! LOL ..............Sorry Sandi, just joshing!
We did make it to the homeshow this weekend. I was kind of disappointed. They advertise it like it's going to be some great thing and then you shell out all this money and you get in there and there are hardly any decent vendors there. The only highlight was the Pet Ave. There were a bunch of shelters set up with puppies and kitties for adoption. My DIL fell in love with a little black and white kitty there (I'm not much of a cat person but this one could have stolen my heart). Michael offered to get it for her, and when they asked for info about adopting it, the lady told them it would cost them $97.00! I couldn't believe it! They are always saying that the shelters are so over crowded! No wonder!!!
Well that's about it. I'm gonna shower and check what's on TV, if there's nothing good to watch, I'll be spending the rest of my evening with Harry Potter.
Goodnight everyone.
