That I don't post enough. Well if Sandi said it, then it must be so! Seriously she's been nagging me for the last couple of days to post something. So here goes Sandi.......you asked for it!! ;-}
We have been doing so well on our exercise this week. We've walked 3 days between 3 and 4 miles each time and we've been to the gym twice. That's almost a record for us. Hopefully we can keep it up. Now, back to our walk this morning. It's a very humid and warm morning and neither one of could get up "Bitch Hill" very well and we're huffing and puffing our way up but we make it and decide to take the less hilly side of the trail. It does have one small upgrade, but it's nowhere near as bad as "Bitch". Sandi has been suffering the last few days with some nasty congestion so we figured that's what's making her breath harder. Well, after the smaller hill she just doesn't look good so this is an exerpt from our conversation on the trail this morning.
Me: Sandi, do you think you need to use your inhaler? (now here I will admit, that my brain couldn't come up with the word inhaler and I subsituted "asthma machine"). haha.
Sandi: No, I'm okay. (meanwhile she's kind of bent over her walking stick and she's breathing rather heavily)
Me: Are you sure? Maybe it would be a good idea to use it now. Then I ask her....
Me: Would it be better for you to use it now and have a better rest of the day, or doesn't it work
like that?
Sandi: I'm okay. (pant, pant, gasp, cough, etc.)
Me: Sandi, why dont' you just use it now. (I ask again if it would help her the rest of the day or not. She still doesn't give me a direct answer to the question).
At this point I'm a little frustrated and figure she'll do what she thinks is right. So I start to walk again and she stops and says....
Sandi: Maybe I will use it.
After a little fumbling around in her fanny pack, she finds it and takes 2 big breaths with it. We continue our walk and she tells me that it takes about a minute for it to work. As we keep going, she pauses and says.......
Sandi: Wow!! I can breathe!!!
I, at this point am very happy that my dear friend can breathe, but me being me, I have to ask her one last time.....
Me: Sooooo, is it a good idea to take a treatment when you first notice the problem so that your rest of your day is better?
Sandi: Yes!
That's all I needed to know. Now I know that she doesn't like to use her inhaler too often, and I don't blame her, but I think I'll keep this story filed in the back of my memory for the next time we have this dilema..........and believe me, there will be a next time!
