I know I haven't posted in a while, but my computer has been giving me fits lately. It wouldn't let me sign in to get my email or to blog. I don't know what I did to get it to start working again, but it started up yesterday and now I can use it..........I'm not even going to try and figure out why. Let's just say I'm leaving well enough alone.
This past weekend the girls in our family went to Hanover to where my neice Michelle lives and had a very nice bachlorette weekend for her. She is getting married in June. We met up with some of the bridesmaids and went to a wine festival and then out to dinner. We ended up at a very good Italian restaurant, which was rather nondescript from the outside, but we were very warmly greeted when we entered and we had a very nice waiter named Michael. I decided to get out of my comfort zone and order something different. Hmmmmm..........note to self. Stick with what you know. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the first two courses. My first was a cup of tomato bisque, delish........the second was a very, very good grilled romaine salad lightly drizzled with caesar dressing, and 2 breadsticks which looked more like biscotti and were absolutely wonderful. I'm new to the concept of grilled romaine, but I think that was my favorite. The main course that I chose was softshell crab on a bed of fettucine with tomato and zucchini sauce. I've always wanted to try a softshell crab and thought, "why not"! The waiter said that he thought I would enjoy it. Well, it kind of looked like a carcass laying on top of my pasta, and that first impression kind of grossed me out. I was game and took a bite and thought, "well it's not that bad", but it did have a very fishy taste and the texture of the shell was chewier than I'd imagined it would be. I felt a little like I was on the Iron Chef. You know when the judges are tasting something like a raw quail egg, and you wonder how they are going to choke it down without gagging...........I managed to eat all but the little legs which were just a bit out of my comfort zone. All in all is wasn't too bad, and now I can say I ate something new. I just won't eat it ever again. Now the beer was another story..........I enjoyed them immensely! ;0)
Saturday was Larry's birthday and we had his dinner and cake on Friday before Jeanine ane I headed out to Michelle's on Saturday morning. Megan and I tried to make him a cake shaped like a bunny. Those who know Larry and I know we have alot of bunnies running around here so now we seem to be all about bunnies, especially Larry. Well, the cake didn't turn out very well, so I got him an ice cream cake. We still ate the bunny, it was delicious, it just didn't look like we wanted it to. Megan thinks she would like to take cake decorating courses. I think she'd be good at it. She's very artistic. Sandi also said she wants to take classes...........I might have to take them again, just to laugh at those two! I can hear Sandi now......"Megan, my roses are way nicer than your roses"! She's been known to be a little bit competitive, our Sandi. LOL!
That's about it for now. I am going to leave you with a little something I hope you will all enjoy. I know you will Sandi. ;+)
My grandaughter Paige just loves it!!!

I'm not crazy about soft shell crab either but everything else sounds delish.
