It's been one long nasty week. I just don't seem to have the time to be me lately. I'm being what everyone else needs me to be right now, and you know what?.....That's O.K.! Now that I read that back, I guess I have been being me all along. Maybe being me is helping people who need me. I've think I've just had an epiphany. (Hi Sandi). I am grateful to be needed in peoples lives. What good would I be if I didn't do what God wants me to do!
The week is ending in a good way though. Yesterday Sandi and I went to visit with Jeanine in the "burgh". We went to the Strip District and shopped around a little and ate lunch at Lidia's restaurant. If you don't know Lidia, she has a show about Italian cooking on PBS. I've always wanted to go and have never had the chance. My meal was delicious. It reminded me of the Christmas Eve dinners my Grandma used to cook for us. Sandi and I got the same thing. Jeanine got a spaghetti dish with calamari and shrimp. I took a taste of the spaghetti, and I was brought back to my childhood. It tasted just like my Grandma's cooking. It's amazing how taste and aroma can bring back such memories. I spent alot of time with my Grandma when I was little. I used to watch her cook the most amazing meals. I wish I would have been a little bit older so that I could have retained a little bit of her expertise in the kitchen. Everything she made tasted so fresh and delicious. Grandma and Grandpap had a huge garden and everyday we ate something different using only what they grew themselves. We always ate our big meal at noon and after we'd have our "siesta". Grandma would sit in her chair and turn on the t.v. to the Galloping Gourmet show. Now my grandmother didn't speak very good english, so I don't know how much she understood of that crazy Englishman's show, but she seemed to enjoy it. But I digress........The manager of the restaurant asked us if we enjoyed our meals, we all said that we did, but could we wrap up what was left. He took my plate and then Jeanine's because he said it would be easy to know who's was who's when he returned them to us. Another young man took Sandi's plate. When the manager came back to our table, he placed a bag near me and said that it was mine and the same with Jeanine. When I got home, Michael and Megan were here and I showed them what I had had for lunch and when I opened it up, it was Jeanine's meal!!!!! LOL! I guess it wasn't all that easy for him to remember after all! Hahaha! I called Jeanine and told her because I felt bad since she said that she was going to feed her leftovers to Chris for dinner last night. Oh well, I guess he just had to eat mine instead.
Today I'm going with Megan while she gets her hair done. She wants me to take care of Paige while she's there. It's easier for me to go with her than for me to keep Paige here at home with me, since I'm not equipped for certain things. (if you know what I mean)............. Later this afternoon, Sandi and Bill are taking Larry and I out for dinner. I'm really looking forward to it. We don't get together too much as couples since Larry and Bill work so much, so it will be a fun day. So I guess I'd better get a move on. I really need to do some sort of workout before I start my day. I've had a terrible eating week and I don't want to fall off the proverbial wagon too much (hi Patti).
Have a great day and do something FUN!!!!!
**********midmorning update*************

You should at least be dancing to the music and you could call it exercise!
My grandmother was a fantastic cook too. I was also too young to learn from her and she never never used a recipe.
OMG, at least you got the food of someone at your table. I went out with friends (long time ago) and barely ate my meal because I had filled up on salad and bread. The next day I was thinking about going home and having my leftovers. When I got home and opened the container it was someone else's food, and not even anything anyone at our table had! Ewwww. To this day I ask them to bring me the container and I do it myself. If I'm in a swanky place I might let them do it but I always check it when they bring it back.
Pinch the baby for me :xoxo:
